In 2018, the No Student Goes Hungry Initiative was launched in New York State. A new program of incentives would increase the per-meal reimbursement from .056 (that way for 40 years!) to a $.25 per-meal reimbursement. Schools need to demonstrate and document that 30% of their total lunch foods costs were spent on NYS products. We have presented this to the new administration for approval for 2022-2023 and we are hopeful that it will not only continue but more schools will bcome eligible with increased access to NYS products. This is a real win-win for our farms, our processors and the children. Local, delicious and healthful. What more do we need. NY Feeding NY’ers.
