A Darn Good Dog.

Louie’s Pushcart Franks. !00% Beef. 100% NY.

Just the beef and a few spices (easy to pronounce).

We love our NY Dogs.

We love telling the story.  The one about how Grampa Louie (pictured near the pushcart).  would travel in his 1930 blue ford pickup truck to buy onions from farmers all the way north of Brooklyn in what we call the “black dirt region” of the state (Orange County). Dad and his sister, Rose, would ride along - hitting their heads on the roof of the truck with the motion from every bump. Hours later, back in Brooklyn, Grampa Louie would load a pushcart with the fresh onions and peddle them on the streets of East New York. Gramma Golda would make sauerkraut and pickles in their store even though they sold no dogs…

I only learned that this all happened when sitting with my 90 year old dad, telling him about my day and how spent it with a farmer in Goshen NY who would begin warehousing my school products for distribution in his freezer. Dad’s expression went from pleased to really excited and he shared this story as only he could tell it.  It’s now my story.  2 generations of pushcart peddling’ and it always makes me smile.
